A message from your Chairman
Dear Society Member,
Before he died, our former member Mike Males produced An Armorial of Zimbabwe and Rhodesia for the Heraldry and Genealogy Society of Zimbabwe, with a forward by J. P. Brooke-Little CVO MA FSA FHS formally Clarenceux King of Arms. I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of this on CD, and thought that the best use of it would be to put it on our Website as a Memorial to Mike.
It contains brief biographical details of armigers living in that part of the world, many of them ex-patriots, with the blazon of their arms and an illustration of each in colour. Although much of the artwork appears to be computer generated, it is nevertheless an impressive record of a slice of life that may well soon disappear for ever, so is probably worth putting in a more permanent and accessible form.
Mike had been hoping to publish it in book form, but it was not to be.
Yours faithfully
Ralph Brocklebank
Chairman of the Society of Heraldic Arts.
