After graduating with full marks in 1987 at the Liceo Artistico, Marco specialised in graphics and advertising. He soon found that his passion for graphics and historical matters combine perfectly in heraldry which soon became a major aspect of his work as a designer and illustrator.

Through a detailed study of ancient codices and rolls of arms, his style rediscovers the beauty and graphic elegance of Gothic and Renaissance heraldry.

Marco is familiar with the history and heraldry of many nations and is an astute interpreter of the delights and playfulness of heraldry’s medieval past with its canting or punning possiblities. He is capable of identifying a tradition and reinterpreting it, not necessarily with a conventional style, but always with a very personal one.

Marco Foppoli produces heraldic illustrations, pedigrees and bookplates for civic bodies, institutions, senior members of the Catholic Church and private clients.
